So some of the resistance to paying a big corporation like Facebook or Twitter or a faceless Global website like Wikipedia may no longer there. There's also no excuse for feeling that 'oh, someone else will pay for it, I can't afford it'. You can see the only 70 users on your instance so if you aren't willing to pitch in $2 or $5 a month to the person who's running your social network instance for fun then who will?

Small monthly fee, policies set democratically by the users, any surplus beyond operating expenses going either as bounties for platform improvements or rebates of credit to members.
