It totally didn't occur to me that if the adjust pin of an LM317 gets disconnected it'll just give up and output the full input voltage. time to order more Oshchips 😅 cc @PhilipFreidin@twitter.com

hmm no it didn’t get disconnected I think this chip just failed randomly? well that sucks

I’m angry and frustrated and want to just start over but GUESS WHAT I ONLY HAVE 1 LM317 LEFT

Tempted to get some fixed-output regulators just to make this failure less likely, even though I’m still convinced it was an on-chip random failure (theres no shorts so what else could it be?)

but hey at least it killed the $25 controller and not the $150 LIDAR module!… at least I don’t think it broke the LIDAR
