@chr @doublah not everybody is on GitLab, many projects run their own instance. I even heard people talking about git federation using ActivityPub - and I would be surprised if Microsoft was going to support *THAT*, now that they bought Github.

@Rosemary @chr it's an IPO.. initial public offering. You need liquidity, which is cash from common shares you sell on the market. It's considered "liquid" because it can be bought or sold instantly, instead of with bonds where.you have to hold for a set period of time, or private capital like Venture Capital where you put money in and can't touch it for a period of years. VCs need liquidity to sell their shares in a company to realise profit.
