@edensaesthetic I know that it lets you change your birth certificate so that it has the correct gender marker on it and doesn't out you when you need to show it for ID things. And the birth certificate is what decides, for example, whether you're put in a men's or women's prison.

@edensaesthetic Yeah! It's a super weird rule because SO MANY trans people don't have GICs. The number of people going through transition on the NHS per year is higher than the number of people who've got a GRC in the last few years, for example!

@cassolotl probably because no one tells us these things? :') My GP didn't even know where the nearest GIC was.

@edensaesthetic Wow. :o For a lot of GPs they've never had a trans patient before, and there are so few GICs, so I can kind of understand it. But blarg.

@cassolotl I guess for private I'm covered - like all my HMRC are Ms. and F after finance shouted at them on my behalf. I remember them asking for a GRC and eventually they just relented.

So just marriage, prison, and state pension then :')
