If you find yourself about to say something that amounts to "not all [privileged group]" because [someone in marginalised group] made a generalisation that bruised your fragile ally ego...

... instead, go find something by a person in that marginalised group and boost it. Bring it to the attention of others in your privileged group.

If when we talk about our bad experiences your response is to point out that you're not like those other privileged oppressors, your attention is misdirected.
