The only thing Facebook cares about is that you expose yourself to as much advertising as possible, spew as much personal information as possible, and spend as much of your time as possible on Facebook. Everything else is incidental. Any understanding of how social media corps operate that isn't grounded in this fact is incomplete and misleading.

Facebook is awful for literally everyone and seriously, you should delete your account.

@bruno I'm on an anti-advertising bender on Facebook. I tag every advert post as 'violent or illegal' so that they need to waste the time of a real employee to view the post and see if it is.
I also lie a lot on those Facebook quizzes.

@Hieraco @bruno all this activity still keeps you on Facebook. Still exposed to the adverts they want you to see. While your anti input is easily ignored by the machine learning, because you are an outlier.
You really cannot escape the echo chamber without deleting your account.

@borup @bruno true that. But with so much data flow through FB it's near Impossible to give up cold turkey. I have a rule to not patronise any business that floods me with unwanted advertising. If I need something, I'll research it first rather than trusting advertising that tells me I need something.

@Hieraco @bruno no one said it was easy. FB has setup their silo very efficiently. For instance I don't always know if tonight's training session is cancelled. Because sports clubs here mostly buy into the lie about FB being free…
