If you have some programming experience, the best way to get started with #Rust is the new edition of the official book:

And if you've installed #Rustlang, you already have it! Run:

rustup doc --book

When I got off my volunteering shift at I checked out our host building (Ravensbourne University London).

Yesterday I volunteered at it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend you give it a go (as a volunteer), very rewarding and gives you a different yet interesting view of the event. As always the people involved a mixture of Mozilla and non-Mozilla staff were courtesy and patient with their fledging volunteers. Felt welcome and part of an important service (I was on the info desk that they had on each floor).

We need a new kind of building to routinely get people married. Most churches are too heteronormative and bogged down with ghoulish histories, and courthouses are full of classist racist technocrats. So I propose a new kind of place, which shall be called the Spouse House.

A man is at a friend's funeral. After the proceedings, he approaches the widow and asks if she minds if he says a word. "No, of course not," she replies. So he grabs a glass and taps a spoon against it to get everyone's attention, and when the muttering dies down, he clears his throat and speaks: "Plethora." He puts the glass back down and everyone continues their conversations. The widow turns to him, with a tear in her eye. "Thank you," she says.

"It means a lot."

Portland is having air quality issues due to wildfires surrounding Rustconf. So if you hoped you'd be able to enjoy the pacific northwest's natural beauty, global warming has dashed your hopes.

LV-100 has been updated to support foreground and background color per characters. (The library is still in the works)

Boring job hunting toot

I’ve done coding katas till I see them in my sleep. Got my Linux performance in 60ms down pat. Got the basics of SRE-ing. Just need to spend a few minutes polishing my past achievements.

I think I’m ready for this final interview tomorrow.
