Why does one need to put a hold on, and join a waitlist for an audiobook from the local public library? We can all listen to the same file, y'all. If it were tied to any actual cost, it would be about bandwidth or storage and it would be about the amount data you could download per however long or the size of the catalog they could keep.

@benhamill yeah digital media has really weird licensing terms. i know a couple librarians on twitter, and see this stuff.

@benhamill Yeah it's licensing bullshit, libraries have to buy licenses for X ebooks (or digital audiobooks), and often they're more expensive than physical copies. Various libraries have been in various tiffs with various publishers over them, I see it go by on Twitter every once in a while.
