been privileged to have been part of a lot of really really cool communities over the years but most of 'em are different or gone.
dropped phrase: *I hadn't felt like I was part of a place that cared about its cohesion as a living breathing community and making a positive difference (for a long time) before landing on this place
man I just can't believe cybre is going away. (to be perfectly perfectly clear this is not meant to be a complaint @ chr or anyone just trying to express my weird internet community emotions). almost 5 years on this site!!! I hadn't felt like I was part of a place that cared about its cohesion as a living breathing community and making a positive difference before landing on this place. like, I seriously learned so much by interacting with people through here, and on our federated instances, and made so many friends. it has been so so much fun. not sure what to say. just reminds you that the internet is an impermanent place, and to always always appreciate what good we do have.
can't believe cybrespace is over tbh
this was my first instance and it's always been my main up until now. i'm going to miss this place a lot
thanks to @chr for keeping it going for these years
intentionally bad take, war machines
@prehensile we are all but mere mortals on this planet full of vile things
intentionally bad take, war machines
@prehensile it IS. it's okay. we can be aware that the air and water show is bad and still admit that planes are cool. planes can do epic things like agriculture too.
intentionally bad take, war machines
@prehensile I have fond memories of seeing planes loop around from a distance as a kid but MAN is trying to sit on the beach and... watch planes when there are 1 billion people there the worst summer experience ever. Did that once. Regret it immensely. Never again. My friends in the neighborhood all hate it. IDK. It sure is planes.
on the bright side, the past year has made me So Much Better at math than I have at any point in my life. these days I feel confident I can keep up with my peers and have my own strengths. and that feels huge
it's really not that I find math uninteresting or unfulfilling, it really is just a struggle for me in most classroom contexts. exactly one professor cracked the code. calc II was a breeze. professor finn ily
I am not good at math so naturally I chose the major that maximizes mathematics courses to the greatest extent second only to CS and... math
