the SNES port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 is sort of infamous for having long load times. and here's a fun fact: that's because when loading sound/voice clips before matches, it waits for the next scanline after *every byte* loaded, intentionally and for no discernable reason, and this happens in like 30 different places in the code. great work capcom

the game has a surprising amount of explanation ingame, when i sort of feel like games of this era get an (unfair) reputation for being impenetrable messes with little-to-no ingame help

playing Master of Orion 1 after not having touched it for a very long time (i usually played MoO2 if i played any of them, later on). it's interesting to me how much simpler the game is than most later 4x games, but it is still pretty satisfying.

wtf is up with this design pattern on web apps where there are huge text fields for username and password on the home page and so you type in your username and password only to realize that the button below it says "Create an account!" and then you have to hunt for the tiny "ˢⁱᵍⁿ ⁱⁿ" button in the upper right-hand corner in order to actually sign in to your existing account?
