@a_breakin_glass both sucks, ksh is the way to go lelelele

i don't know what i'm saying

@hj I mean, csh is the bestttt shell right? :')

@kitsune yes, the SHED dev environment, the setup that *real* devs use, the standard shell SH + the standard text editor ED @hj @a_breakin_glass

@kitsune (ahhh forgot to tag that sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious) @hj @a_breakin_glass

@kitsune @hj @a_breakin_glass wouldn't life be easier if everyone would just stick to whatever is in busybox?
@kitsune @hj @a_breakin_glass yes, it's some kind of ash. However what actually is the official ash is rather complicated. The first time I used ash was on 16-bit MINIX, where it was the fancier shell. The second time I encountered it, ash was the /bin/sh that no one uses.

I had to search a bit on the internet to check that I didn't remember it wrong and I found a history of ash https://www.in-ulm.de/~mascheck/various/ash/
@wictory @hj @a_breakin_glass >the /bin/sh that no one uses
Everyone uses it (me included) if they want to write a portable script :smugsiptea:
@kitsune @hj @a_breakin_glass yeah for scripts it awesome because it's kind of POSIX compliant. Its also for most parts OK for everyday use, however when I want to feel cozy on a Friday night I prefer fish 😜
@kitsune @hj @a_breakin_glass 👍 looks comfy.

while searching on the internet I found some sources claiming that 'ash' is some kind of waste product, however I was not able to verify this...

@kitsune @hj @a_breakin_glass

/bin/sh is OK when nothing else is available.

If you want a shell that's actually functional, you might want to upgrade to bash, zsh, or fish.
