@GNUxeava I used to always get it when plugging in any usb stick that I ejected on linux. also this is a work computer that advice is unactionable

@SuricrasiaOnline Yes, any stick that was in a linux box. You need to be very strict and clear with e.g. Staples employees...

@SuricrasiaOnline

can't get infected if you format the drive, apparently (and yet win7 automounts and runs USB anyway)

@SuricrasiaOnline Oh, such an irritating experience!

I’ve found Windows to have the absolute worst volume and partition management system I’ve ever seen. Loading sticks with multiple partitions just shows me 10 different disks in Explorer and you can’t even format the stick because it presents each partition as a physical drive 😫

God I love having GNOME Disks or macOS Disk Utility instead.

@SuricrasiaOnline When I used Windows, one of my USB sticks kept giving me that popup. I eventually got tired of seeing it so I let it "clean" my drive just so it'd go away. It didn't just delete all my files, it completely bricked the drive. I was unable to reformat it with Disk Management. Not even Gparted was able to fix it. I have no clue how Windows even managed to do that, yet here we are...

@SuricrasiaOnline plugging in a chrome os stick into a windows machine results into like 20 "do you want to format this?" popups

@SuricrasiaOnline windows installing the standard usb mass storage driver for the 67th time
