Once safe international travel is possible again, would you be interested in attending a weekend demoparty in Toronto? Please boost!
@SuricrasiaOnline also, are you in contact with anyone else who has organized a party before in north america? or are you doing it mostly on your own?
barzoule and maybe some ancient sceners from NAID might be available, but, idk.
@pcy I can for sure talk to dr. claw who organizes @ party, and also the demosplash crew. it's gonna be a while until this becomes a thing but there's no reason no to start thinking now I guess
@SuricrasiaOnline sure, do I have to bring a demo for everyone like a potluck, or is it take a demo leave a demo?
@SuricrasiaOnline I live on the other end of the country. I only boosted and didn't distort the vote with one of my own.
@SuricrasiaOnline My partner and I have been talking for a while about trying to see the rest of the country; she's never been outside of southern BC, and while I've been to AB, I was born and grew up a bit near Toronto.
I'm immunocompromised so going nowhere any time soon, potentially for a while even after the powers-that-be call things 'safe' (when IMO, they likely really won't be for much longer), but we've been wanting to go to Toronto and my old hometown for ages, so if the stars aligned?
@DialMforMara a demoparty is a kind of computer arts festival. specifically it's focused on the creation of "demos" which are computer programs which produce art. however, other kinds of art is also showcased, such as general digital art, photography, or performance art in the form of concerts

@SuricrasiaOnline yay. Toronto might be a little far away, but if I can go, I'll want to set up a knit-along.
@SuricrasiaOnline maybe, I expect travel to come back before parties. Dr. Tam's saying another 2-3 years of distancing even with a vaccine.
