some fun facts about the static site generator I made for suricrasia.online:
-> it builds a tarball with all the files in it with the correct perms
-> it also is able to serve the files directly from the tarball so I can double check that when I upload it to my server the files are all correct
-> it's written in python and the actual generator is only 100 lines (exactly!)

there is also a class in it called "BuildBuilder" which I love

the primary reason I made the tarball be the deployment mechanism is I can update my website using the following command:

cat site.tar | ssh username@website "tar -xvpf -"

@SuricrasiaOnline that reminds me of Magento's hellish FactoryFactory, though the concept is quite charming!

@SuricrasiaOnline Why not rsync?

My two-liner is:

jekyll build
rsync -rv --update --checksum _site/* user@website:/dir
