It sickens me that some of the biggest media figures in #Linux and #FreeSoftware are alt-right or adjacent, making these spaces actively hostile to the groups already excluded from tech and making young people in particular easy to target with hateful rhetoric.

@xiroux Luke Smith and DistroTube, off the top of my head. Guys like Bryan Lunduke are mighty skeevy, too.

@ljwrites @xiroux I only just found out about distrotube's beliefs and I was so disappointed

@ljwrites @xiroux Thankfully another open source/linux youtuber I watch made a political video and wasn't alt right or adjacent so that was nice

@SirLotsaLocks @ljwrites @xiroux hmm I've long avoided Luke Smith for a host of reasons. What particular video from DistroTube made you quit him?

@SharksOnCoffee @ljwrites @xiroux I think it was when gnome made a new ToS that said they weren't going to pay much attention to the reverse racism card, because in 99/100 it's not genuine and distrotube went on a rant about reverse racism. I didn't finish the video though because I'm not going to give that man watch time for that.
