@Finnarchist the world is changing so, So, SO FAST (thanks, in many parts, to the internet) - sadly, this also means that people who are clinging to the past / their power (e.g.: old white men) are become more and more caustic in their actions. This will pass, but it's hard. They're holding on SO TIGHTLY to their bigotry, afraid to lose it because if they do... who would they become?

@Finnarchist The worst part is, this hatred has always been the undercurrent within society...I fear that those people that bear that burden of irrational hatred will finally act on a larger scale. Breaking the Social Contract that Civilization represents.

@Finnarchist The problem is that education doesn't work...I think the real issue lay with the lack of empathy or basic respect for those who are the "Other".

Religious belief often exacerbates this problem, as their intolerance is normalized by the doctrines that their faith follows...In some cases. It's a human problem that will terribly hard to solve.
