"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a person in possession of a good library, must be in want of more books."
The dragon looked smug, as if they had said something clever.
"True," said the knight, hefting his lance. "But those belong to the town library. Return them!"

the mastodon instance at cybre.space is retiring
for a lot of reasons, both personal and practical, i don't think i can effectively run a public mastodon instance any more, and i need to retire cybre.space. i want to do this responsibly and make sure everyone has a chance to migrate and export properly, so here is the plan for the instance retirement (feel free to share this link around): https://cybre.space/~chr/cybre-space-eol
due to ongoing moderation load issues and understaffing, between now and 1 november, the instance may be undermoderated. for other instances, if this poses an issue for you, i encourage you to use federation tools at your discretion. i would only ask that you be clear and public about your decisions so that cybre.space users can figure out where they will be able to migrate their accounts.
thank you
@vyr Turning the light in the entire house the same strange colour is very demon-aesthetic. The entire house resonating with your mood
@NicoleTheLizard Pagliacci's greatest party trick was making the world think he was fictional, when the real Pagliacci was in us all along
The swordmaster sat down. "Would you speak with me, please?"
The dragon approached warily. "No sword forged can pierce my hide."
"I know."
"Then why are you here?"
"To hear you out."
"No, why you?"
"I have studied long to learn how to keep a sword sheathed."
"Hm. That's a first."

It was a technological civilization, but not spacefaring. As near as we could tell, they didn’t even have satellites around their planet.
When we got within visual range we realized why: the world was so massive that no reaction—chemical or nuclear—could get a rocket out of that gravity well.
We settle into synchronous orbit, transmit a hello, append our files on materials engineering, and set about printing a space elevator.
It’s going to be a long first contact.
I am slightly a void in reality. (The "H" is silent) 36-year-old devil but in a catgirl sort of way, snugglemuffin, too gay for this.
