please read if you have an old smartwatch you don't want anymore :boost_ok:

hey uh

if anybody has like an old smartwatch they don't want anymore

especially if it's one of the ones on this page

asteroidos.org/install/

(but even if it's not)

i could really use it

i used to have a galaxy watch that really helped me manage my ADHD and such

then my asshole abusive parents stole it

i've tried using a day planner but i just can't bring myself to use it consistently

having what basically amounts to a heads-up display for life on my wrist was just... perfect in every way

it made everything so much easier

so yeah if anyone has a spare smartwatch they could send my way i'd be eternally grateful and it would really help me get my shit together

my only criteria is it has to work with a samsung/android phone since that's what i have lol

please boost! :boost_ok:

military aviator pants are really a must have for wheelchair users, with shin pockets and large thigh pockets

ME/CFS

If you have someone with chronic fatigue in your life, give them some spoons every now and then. Do that chore for them, so we can spent our few daily spoons on something we actually like doing.

ME/CFS

#MEAwarenessDay I want to say something about ME/CFS today, but I have not much to say. This disease is very invisible, because it forces me to stay at home by myself most of the day. And when I do go out, I appear energised, which I can only do for short amounts of time, or by planning several rest days after the activity. I guess I want you to remember that I'm here, doing low-spoon activities, because that's the only option I have.

- oh, you're in a wheelchair!? what happened to you?

- I was hit by a wheelchair user after asking that same stupid question :blobcatinnocent:

on image descriptions and screen readers

• this is really specific, but custom emojis with awfully long names may be fine to those who can see, as they're all visually the same size, but with a screen reader, may take an annoying amount of time to read.

• if you're forgetful like me, @PleaseCaption could help you remember to caption your images! Just follow them and you'll get a DM if you forget

on image descriptions and screen readers

• sometimes, a way-too-detailed media descriptive may be worse than a shorter one. It may vary depending on the kind of media, but often it's better to only include the relevant details and leave out the unimportant things.

• screen readers don't work well with unicode pseudo-fonts so it's a good idea to use them as little as possible

as someone with sight problems (I hope they won't keep progressing until full blindness... but oh well), I really appreciate how much more accessible the fediverse is to disabled folks than other social media places, but I think there are some things to consider. Over time I've been taking some notes that might be helpful

• screen readers may not read punctuation as expected, so comma spam might not be audible, which may make the context confusing

I like how FOSS is supposed to be auto-organized and all and maybe anarchist somehow and stuff but we still produce 99% of software where the structurale model is admin-moderator-users and totally fail to see the immense real of experimentation we could do on that

re: antisemitism on here

@thufie I see it like this. I've never liked Israel I've always felt it was a racist apartheid state. It treats the Ethiopian Jewish people like shit. I don't like States very much anyhow. Cities are cool towns are cool but I don't like States. But what I find funny is that white leftist can have all this fire when it comes to a is real. But when it comes to their redneck racist cousin who's probably a member of some weird Nazi gang they don't have this type of fire. It's weird how they only have this type of fire for blacks and Jews. That's something that needs to be talked about with the left

antisemitism on here

saying "some states are more illegitimate than others" when talking about Israel is an antisemitic dogwhistle used in leftist circles

for the record. all states are illegitimate. period.
