Birdsite has a 280-character limit for the actual text of your tweet, BUT the alt-text on an image can be up to 1,000 characters 🤣

It seems like Twitter would have two options to deal with *extremely* long posts:
1) posts which were over a certain character count would have the rest of their length hidden, and you'd have to click on a tweet to read the rest of it (and people who wrote super long posts wouldn't like that).
2) posts of all lengths would be shown in their entirety (and regular people would having to scroll for 5 seconds to get past a single tweet).

@Christian they toyed with increasing the length of tweets to 10,000 and got such a massively negative response that this is what we get
