Just got home from visiting my parents. Driving 19 straight hours is not well recommended and I'm going to cease functioning for half the day now. At least I get to do it in my own bed instead of my passenger seat. @.@

Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday with friends or family, even if they're far away ❤

This year, according to American Airlines, I spent north of 115 hours in planes. A very large percentage of that time was spent burning hours flying towards my boys @binary and @nrr@twitter.com.

I'm happy to announce that I will be moving to the Bay Area in January, so as to reduce the number of hours I spend flying in planes just to see them <3

Protip:

When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,

"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes

I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."

I'm generally starting to really understand that my parents are just kinda bad at having friends. My father tends to not want to actively participate in family things, and my mother isn't good at getting herself into friend groups or other things. As a result they're kinda lonely these days without myself or my sister in town anymore.

I think this holiday season I'm going to put some active effort into reaching out to friends.

Recruiter said she would get back to me sometime today, and it's getting to be the end of the day in Pacific Time. Ugh this is the worst part of this process.

Flying out of the Bay area yet again. I really hope the interview yesterday turns out positive, I just have to wait until Monday or so for some news. Maybe I can fly out less often...

GOOD MORNING

I have a build to get working, a database deployment to do, release approval paperwork to fill out, and code to FUCKING deploy, and a vulnerability report to read.

And by the time I'm done with today I'm going to be in the Bay Area preparing for an interview tomorrow.

HOOAH this week is going to destroy me

Two companies flying me out for on-site interviews, I'm excited :3

You: Intel architecture
Me: Actually, Intel is the manufacturer. You're thinking of Intel's monster.

After several hours of general BS, I have determined that my cable modem has a fault.

Well, I determined that after an hour or so of mucking about. It took several hours of general BS to convince Arris that my modem has a problem and that they need to send me a new one under warranty.

Naturally they won't pay shipping to get the old one off to them. That's on me. Oh well. Guess I'm going with a different brand for my next cable modem purchase.

Roblox interview went okay. Got the first part of the question fine, took some dragging to get me over the finish line of the second part of the problem.
