Microsoft is developing a Linux Distro.
....Is someone posting April Fools stuff a few weeks late? http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-azure-sphere-is-powered-by-linux-2018-4?r=UK&IR=T
I've got to say though: The idea of a platform for embedded systems designed to be updated for 10+ years out of the gate seems like a good idea?
@Canageek It does seem very weird that I can run a bash shell in windows10. That's true.
@gemlog Yeah, but that is one thing. This is them releasing their own version of Linux for use in Embedded systems. Designed to be a long-term support thing. They keep it compatible and provide updates, to get around the issue of companies throwing a static version of *nix in and then it never getting updates.
Hell has clearly frozen over.
Heck who would have guessed the Year of the Linux desktop ended up being Chrome OS.
The future of tech feels impossible to predict.
@Canageek It's the Satya Nadella effect. :)
@Canageek Oh my goodness I am in disbelief
