Does anyone know what this is? it's not some sort of optic system inside but the dilating shutter is broken. #xrd
@masklayer I bet they are, we are going to see if my boss is willing to spend the money to have the mech shop look at it. They can fix just about anything metal or wood or plastic.
But we want to know if it is something we would use first.
@Canageek condenser?
@bea Has optics inside it
@Canageek yeah, an abbe condenser I mean...
@bea A what?
@Canageek device for controlling illumination light, like on a microscope
@bea Probably. It was with our microscope.
@Canageek ah then yeah that would do it
@bea !!!! I KNOW WHAT IT IS!
I was shown this once! You put the cable from the light source in it and it focuses it on your sample, when you want to illuminate it from the top instead of the bottom.
@Canageek yep that's a condenser alright
@Canageek microscope Illuminator prolly.
@photopuck Yep! @bea reminded me of that, I've actually used it before.
@Canageek Is that like a stage light or something? The aperture blades might be fixable
