"Scientists give cuttlefish 3D glasses and shrimp films for vision study" https://www.theguardian.com/science/2020/jan/08/scientists-play-shrimp-films-to-cuttlefish-in-3d-vision-study (there's a cute photo of a cuttlefish wearing red/blue stereo glasses, which turns out to work)
Quote: « “A lot of people said it wasn’t going to work,” Wardill said. “They said they’d rip the glasses off. They said there’d be ink in the tank.” »
Translation: "Fools! We showed them all!"
advice from user `maryamin` on twitter re: Iran/US missile strikes
"We are all terrified but control yourself and do not have any terrifying predictions in mind. Cry. But don't write scary tweets about something that hasn't happened. Don't run in advance. Have mercy on each other. The horror makes one crazy. Hold the hand of a real person sitting next to you."
Here’s a really interesting question when you start to fully grasp it: why is there still in the 21st no sustained and intellectually rigorous study of sex and sex practices, as a discipline? Why is the knowledge that we do have divided up among half a dozen discrete professions and methods of inquiry, from medicine, to cultural anthropology, to psychology, to women’s and gender studies?
toxic trans communities
Like if you honestly believe that its fine to hate all cis people, you should probably talk to a therapist about that.
Wow the difference a year makes. I’ve now become a thot who makes out with her friends at the club and calls herself a slut on her Tinder profile. I’ve almost entirely discarded my timidity, and I’m quite happy about it.
personal life, meta
So this past year mostly fucking sucked for me and I wanted to just openly vent about it on here, but I can tell I kind of need to learn to trust the platform again before I feel comfy doing that. I definitely needed the Internet break that I took, but I also need it to be over now; I get something out of the fediverse that I don't get in real life relationships.
