the best way for me to never trust you again is by hosting an in-person event right now and putting the words "mask use encouraged" in the description

also, i'm a senior dev/sysadmin who uses vim exclusively, so you can just lay on the thick technical stuff and i'll be able to understand

does anyone have experience setting up a Misskey instance on Docker? the documentation is very scant and i'm wondering if anyone has any gotchas when it comes to database performance, etc.

I have made a weird musical instrument. It is some kind of electronic just intonation kalimba I guess? With stars?

I can't move to the Fediverse properly until I reproduce my famous pinned post from the birdsite, so here it is:

P.S.A. To all vintage computer and video game collectors:

Go through your collections and GET THE DAMN BATTERIES OUT!

Now! Don't wait! Seriously, put down the phone, go to your collection and take out all the batteries. Right now! Even if they look "okay" they are NOT SAFE after this much time.

kin stuff Discourse

@hierarchon i've just come to accept that "kin" and "otherkin" have become wholly separate and distinct terms due to the descriptive evolution of language, and that there's not much else anyone can do about it. the ship has sailed.

@thatonecalculator a lot of these TLD owners are virtual landlords who live in the bahamas and have no idea how technology works or what the market is

many of them just assume that a single big $22k transaction is better and easier to support than 1000+ $20 transactions, or that the "exclusivity" of a high price is more desirable for that market

but that's not really how the internet works, so many of them drop their prices after a couple of years because of it lol

@thatonecalculator TLD registries can charge whatever they want for a domain and the registrars have to abide by it, basically

whoever owns ".spreadbetting" decided $22k was the starting price, I guess

@pixel @norm i'm still masto-primary now (tho I've been here a while) because even though Musk's deal is probably toast, the writing is on the wall and it's nice not being constantly subjected to hate and anxiety-inducing things

not all witches are religious, and wicca is not "the witch religion" where you must be wiccan to be a witch

no disrespect to those who are but i've only found myself in private practice and esotericism
